Weatherford teens face charges for rock throwing

By Chris Pramik

Last week, two Weatherford teenagers were charged with multiple felonies for throwing objects off a bridge onto passing cars. Victims include four semi-trucks and 10 passenger vehicles.

Passengers on Interstate 20 reported that two 14-year-old boys were throwing rocks and railroad spikes into oncoming traffic from a bridge. It took Weatherford Police several attempts to locate the suspects after receiving several reports.

Two teenagers matching the physical description given by witnesses were found at a nearby apartment complex. They were taken into custody and later charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief.

One 59-year-old woman suffered serious facial lacerations and three broken teeth after being struck in the face with a rock that smashed through her windshield. This injury required a trip to the hospital to get 21 stitches. Luckily, there were no fatalities as a result of this incident but there could have been at the rate of speed the vehicles were travelling.
